Our history

Atimar was established as a spinoff of AFRA in December 1976, and started its business in the commercial vehicle sector in January 1977, as official licensee of Wabco Westinghouse for the Italian regions Lombardy, Veneto, Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Trentino-Alto Adige.

The idea was to concentrate the resources and know-how in an ad hoc company, with a view to specializing in one line of business, namely pneumatics, both in the commercial vehicle aftermarket and in the OEM market.

The specialization oriented strategy produced good results: the customers, spare parts dealers, repair shops, local public transportation companies and manufacturers of trailers and special vehicles put their trust on the company.

Over the years Atimar kept complying with market requirements and satisfying customers’ and suppliers’ requests, thereby expanding its business: the range of products came to include new brands and new types of products. Hence the customer base grew bigger, and the company became active in new business sectors and fields: as for commercial vehicles, as well as with pneumatic systems, they also became involved with brake pads, clutch servos and axles; in industrial automation, they specialized in both pneumatic and hydraulic technology.
